Honors College

Duquesne University Honors College is a supercharged community of undergraduate students from EVERY school in the university.  Together we explore ideas in small seminars (18 students) and tiny tutorials (7 students!). We live and thrive in community with 40+ years of Honors College traditions – and in 2026 we are LEVELING UP!

Our new home this coming fall will be in the top floors of Des Places Hall.

With your help we can build on all our cherished Honors College traditions:

  • Extra Perk: breakfast parties in Des Places’ 12th floor with kitchen support
  • Cultural Dinners: catered delicacies and interactive learning
  • Puzzle and Game Nights: screen-free fun in all forms – in our brand new student lounge
  • Harry Potter Week: contests, escape rooms, trivia, and the legendary carnival with loaded prize tables
  • Duquesne University Academic Challenge: a student-run quiz bowl for local high schools since 1994
  • Classes in Des Places: the board room on the 12th floor is ideal for seminars and tutorials
  • Classes in Pittsburgh:  faculty-led excursions and research missions throughout the region
  • August Wilson House: literature, history, and social justice with our community partner

Consider a donation of $50 now that the Honors College has entered its fifth decade at Duquesne!  With your help we can continue to ignite students’ passion for learning and success in new ways.

In addition to the traditions we share, your gift will also impact:

  • The Office of Student Fellowships Led by Associate Director, Kevin Henderson, OSF helped our students win three Goldwater Scholarships, a Fulbright, a Boren, and a Gilman in just the last year alone!
  • Internships abroad and experiential group travel closer to home
  • Stipends for student conference travel
  • Collaborations with faculty
  • The new Honors Undergraduate Thesis track and plans for an undergraduate journal, Humanities and the Professions
  • Enhanced new facilities in Des Places Hall for Honors College housing and activities
  • And so much more.

Thank you for your support of Duquesne University Honors College!
