Here at the Mary Pappert School of Music, we help students become the musicians they want to be with degrees and programs backed by the skills and experiences of our world-class GRAMMY Award-winning faculty. Our students benefit from state-of-the-art music technology and recording studios, 68 Steinway pianos, and two performance venues, among many other facilities. Your gift helps us to provide our students an education that utilizes all of these resources to their fullest potential.

Please donate now to the School of Music
- Dean’s Discretionary Fund (Greatest Needs): Your gift to the Dean’s Discretionary Fund allows for us to support our areas of greatest need. These needs can be anything from facility upgrades to student travel (when possible) and anywhere in between.
- Music Therapy Endowed Fund: This fund provides scholarship funding to aspiring music therapy students here at Duquesne. Your gift will ensure continued funding for future students, offsetting the cost of tuition.
- Voices of Spirit: This fund supports future travel and recording projects of the Voices of Spirit, Duquesne’s premier choral ensemble.
- Audio Engineering Society: Typically, students in the Audio Engineering Society benefit from donations to assist with funding to attend the annual AES and NAMM conferences. This year, funding is being used for virtual guest seminars with industry leaders since students are not traveling.
- Music Therapy Student Association: Members of MTSA will utilize Day of Giving gifts to support registration costs for the annual Mid-Atlantic Region of the American Music Therapy conference.
- Trumpet Ensemble/Studio: Students in the trumpet studio take yearly trips and raise funds to help offset travel expenses. These trips are typically to the International Trumpet Guild Conference and the National Trumpet Competition, where they get to observe and hear world-class trumpet playing and master classes and meet and network with some of the finest educators in the country. Most years, several students are chosen to compete in the individual competitions and represent the Duquesne University Trumpet Studio.
- Music on the Bluff Series: The Music on the Bluff Series, currently offering virtual performances on the MPSOM YouTube Channel, is one of the finest chamber music series in Pittsburgh. Under the artistic direction of David Allen Wehr, the series has presented over 300 chamber and solo works performed by GRAMMY Award-winning Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra members, School of Music faculty, and other internationally acclaimed guest artists. Gifts made to this series ensure that we can continue to present the highest caliber performers.
- Institute of Entertainment, Music, and Media Arts: IEMMA is a unique interdisciplinary program that provides resources for undergraduate and graduate students to learn all aspects of the entertainment industry—from composing to recording, performance to engineering, production to distribution, and everything in between. Gifts made to IEMMA will be used to bring world famous guest artists and lecturers to campus to supplement our students’ education with real-world experience. During the time of COVID, funds are utilized for costs associated with remote projects and artist-lecturers.
- City Music Center: Founded in 1989, CMC has proudly served as the Pittsburgh area's premier provider of musical instruction for students of all ages. As the community outreach division of the Mary Pappert School of Music, CMC strives to educate all who are interested, regardless of musical ability or financial situation. Funds raised for CMC will benefit students (where possible) through individual musical instruction, group classes, workshops, recitals, and concert performances, as well as overnight summer camps packed with music-making activities and performance opportunities.
