Gumberg Library is a hub for academic exploration, distinctive resources, co-curricular programming and expert research services for the entire Duquesne University community. The library serves all students as a welcoming space for growth and discovery.
Your generous contributions to Gumberg this year will support library programs that enhance the overall student experience. Our varied programming is developed in partnership with faculty, departments, and student organizations on campus and is designed to engage students in important topics beyond the classroom. Our recent events and exhibits have also sparked community partnerships with organizations like the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh, the August Wilson House and the Pittsburgh Prison Book Project.
The Social Justice Reading Club (SJRC) was initiated by Gumberg Library faculty in 2018 to unite and engage faculty, students, and staff in dialogue around a good book. We promote a book on a relevant social justice topic every semester and host corresponding events and discussions that explore meaningful ideas and bring diverse voices to campus. Recent featured books and programs explored Black history in Pittsburgh, reading access in prisons, anti-Semitism, stories about immigration, representation, homelessness, and more.
Your support will help us to host impactful speakers and enlightening exhibits that inspire students to engage in essential conversations about our world.
The Gumberg Library Leadership will match donations to Gumberg Library dollar-for-dollar, up to $1,000.
An additional way to make a major impact on the Duquesne Day of Giving is to help us spread the word via social media, e-mail, text, and word of mouth! Share this address www.duq.edu/dayofgiving with #DUQDayOfGiving and encourage your family and friends to make a donation. Go Dukes!
