The Mary Pappert School of Music is home to nearly 250 aspiring performers, teachers, medical professionals, audio engineers, producers, and composers. No matter what musical avenue each of these students chooses as their pathway, we are here to support them in their journey. Now we need your help to make their bigger goals a reality!
On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, Duquesne will host its 10th annual Day of Giving. On this day, you can make a gift to the School of Music that will be transformative to our students' education. In the past, we have utilized Day of Giving gifts to fund specific projects including extensive organ repair, mission trips to important Spiritan sites throughout Europe, and even building out our live streaming system. this year, we ask that you consider making your gift to the Dean's Discretionary Fund so that we can provide widespread support across our School in all the areas that need it the most. Examples of how Dean's Discretionary funds are used include supporting student professional development activities (travel/registration fees for national conferences, workshops, and performances), infrastructure support (building, equipment, and instrument upgrades and repair), guest artist/ lecturers, and so much more.
This year, we will once again issue a challenge where your gift can go even further. Thanks to Dean David Allen Wehr, every dollar up to $2,500 will be matched, so please consider donating early to help us unlock his challenge gift.
You can also choose to designate all or part of your gift to any one of the following funds:
- Audio Engineering Society: Typically, students in the Audio Engineering Society benefit from donations to assist with funding to attend the annual AES and NAMM conferences.
- City Music Center: Funds raised for CMC will benefit students (where possible) through individual musical instruction, group classes, workshops, recitals, and concert performances, as well as summer camps packed with music-making activities and performance opportunities.
- Institute of Entertainment, Music, and Media Arts: Gifts made to IEMMA will be used to bring world famous guest artists and lecturers to campus to supplement our students’ education with real-world experience.
- Live Stream Fund: Each year, the Music on the Bluff Series, Christmas at Duquesne and many of our ensemble concerts are broadcast live around the world. Your gift to the live stream fund helps to offset production costs and assist with staffing and support so we can continue to present the highest caliber performers and performances for this highly successful chamber music series.
- Music on the Bluff Series: Gifts made to this series ensure that we can continue to present the highest caliber performers and performances for this highly successful chamber music series.
